Examination Tips

Examination Tips

1. Use your revision time effectively. Prepare a revision timetable.
2. When is your energy level the highest? This is the time to tackle the difficult bits.
3. Do not postpone the difficult topics.
4. Attend to routine things like tidying up, at low energy times of the day.
5. Do not just read. Make notes. In fact, summarizing and condensing notes focuses your mind.
6. Discuss topics, after having revised them, with your classmates.
7. Use diagrammatic representation wherever possible. You may find this easier to retain.
8. Take a 5 minutes break after every 40 minutes (Certainly after an hour!).
9. Take a longer break after every 3 hours of study.
10. Eat well.
11. Play some game when you find time. This helps you relax.
12. Do your best during the revision.
13. On the examination day, do not worry, even if you feel that you remember nothing! Give it your best shot, you will be able to recall once the questions are in front of you.
14. Answer all questions. Ensure that you plan your time well during the examination.

Exam Stress Busting Tips

General Exam Stress-Busting Tips:

  • Believe in yourself. You wouldn't have been given a place on the course if you didn't have the ability to do it. Therefore, if you prepare for the exams properly you should do fine, meaning that there is no need to worry excessively.
  •  Don't try to be perfect. It's great to succeed and reach for the stars. But keep things in balance. If you think that "anything less than A+ means I've failed" then you are creating mountains of unnecessary stress for yourself. Aim to do your best but recognise that none of us can be perfect all of the time.
  • Take steps to overcome problems. If you find you don't understand some of your course material, getting stressed out won't help. Instead, take action to address the problem directly by seeing your course tutor or getting help from your class mates.

Teacher’s Prayer

Help me be grateful
For the students who like to learn and feel challenged by those who don’t.
Help me be thankful
For the students love and understand those I’m learning to love.
Help me be motivated
By the students who learn to think and be committed to those afraid to try.
Help me be inspired
By the students who choose right over wrong and be patient with those who lack the courage.
Help me be gentle
With the students who make mistakes and learn to forgive the difficult child.
Help me be wise
With the students building character and be unwavering with those without conscience.
Help me be committed
To the students who are responsible and be persistent with those who value nothing.
Help me be calm
In the midst of violence and model self-control in the midst of anger.
Help me be faithful
In the days of discouragement and be dedicated to make one child smile.  Amen.

His Teacher's Hand

The first grade teacher gave her class a fun assignment – to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful. Since it was the holidays, the teacher thought the traditional goodies would be the subjects of most of her students arts.

And they were. But Douglas made a different kind of picture. Douglas was a different kind of boy. He was the teacher’s true child of misery, frail and unhappy. As other children played at recess, Douglas was likely to stand close by her side. One could only guess at the pain Douglas felt behind those sad eyes. Yes, his picture was different. When asked to draw a picture of something for which he was thankful, he drew a hand. Nothing else. Just an empty hand.

His abstract image captured the imagination of his peers. Whose hand could it be? One child guessed it was the hand of a farmer. Another suggested a police officer. Still others guessed it was the hand of God. And so the discussion went – until the teacher almost forgot the young artist himself. When the children had gone on to other assignments, she paused at Douglas’ desk, bent down, and asked him whose hand it was. The little boy looked away and murmured, “It’s yours, teacher.” She recalled the times she had taken his hand and walked with him here or there, as she had the other students. How often had she said, “Take my hand, Douglas, we’ll go outside.” Or, “Let me show you how to hold your pencil.” Or, “Let’s do this together.” Douglas was most thankful for his teacher’s hand.

"The story speaks of more than thankfulness. It says something about teachers teaching and parents parenting and friends showing friendship, and how much it means to the Douglas of the world. They might not always say thanks. But they’ll remember the hand that reaches out."

What is Family Planning?

Family planning is deciding the number of children a married couple would want and they would decide when to have the next baby and uses responsible means to achieve their desired number of children.

Birth Control is a procedure that can prevent the birth of a child. It is a routine of one or more actions, devices, or medications followed in order to prevent or reduce chances of pregnancy or giving birth.

Contraceptive is any method or procedure couples may use to prevent the fertilization of the ovum.

The significance of family planning to:
  1.  Mother - taking two to three years interval of delivery makes a mother recover and regains health.
  2. Father – family planning lightens the burden and responsibility of the father in supporting family since there are only few to support.
  3. Children – they will get better time, opportunity, and security needs like food, clothing, good education, and others.
  4. Family – family members have more opportunities to enjoy each other’s company and enable them to save for the improvement of living standards and emergencies.
  5. Community – family planning improves the economic and social status of the community.
  6. Country and the World – with the positive results of family planning, resources like land, food, and fuel can be reduced in usage and sanitation control would be more effective.
What are the positive effects of family planning?

  •  Physical Less exhaustion due to burden of work load. Everyone in the family will have enough time for everything including rest.
  • Mental and Emotional Children gets more time from parents and also have better financial and security needs. This makes the family happy and contented.
  • Spiritual Parents having more time with the family will also have enough time to lead their children spiritually. A spiritual way of life results to stronger ties.
  • Social There will be enough time with the family and even the community. With an appeased mind and conditioned mental state, it is easier to associate with the family and community.
  • Moral With parents having more time with children, they will have more time teaching children values and responsibilities.
  • Parents can also provide education and good upbringings. Economic Lesser children results to lesser expenses. Parents will have less to support thus saving more. Economically, the family will have more savings to spend on other needs and will be more financially secured.

Christmas Spirit

How would you define the Christmas spirit? Would it be a friendly smile between strangers, the sound of familiar carols, a tree with twinkling lights in a sea of brightly wrapped packages, or just that good feeling you get this time of the year?

None of these elements captures the real meanin of the phrase. They represent feelings that may be a response to the commercialism that distorts the real spirit of Christmas.
