The 51st IEC Official Logo

The Sun symbolizes our hope of glory; it is a symbol of a new beginning. It also symbolizes the Philippines because the sun is the principal symbol in the Philippine flag.

The seven rays of the sun symbolize the sevengifts of the Holy Spirit. The cup and bread call to mind the sacred species of the Holy Eucharist.

The monogram “IHS” (Iesus Hominum Salvator) symbolizes the Holy Name of Jesus. This also symbolizes Cebu, since the former name of Cebu was Villa del Santissimo Nombre de Jesus.

The boat, a common mode of transport in the Philippine Archipelago, is symbolic of the missionary nature of the Church. The people in the boat, each of a different color, symbolize the principles which have animated the faith of the Filipino people; green for hope, which blooms in adversity, blue, the color of faith which we cling to, and red, the color of charity, which urges us on. The aqua blue color of the boat is reminiscent of the Christian pilgrimage to Heaven.

(The artist of the winning logo is a 19 year-old fine arts student, Jayson Jaluag from Mandaue City, Cebu.)

Family Planning

What is Family Planning?

Family planning is deciding the number of children a married couple would want and they would decide when to have the next baby and uses responsible means to achieve their desired number of children.

Birth Control is a procedure that can prevent the birth of a child. It is a routine of one or more actions, devices, or medications followed in order to prevent or reduce chances of pregnancy or giving birth.

Contraceptive is any method or procedure couples may use to prevent the fertilization of the ovum.

The significance of family planning to:
  1.  Mother - taking two to three years interval of delivery makes a mother recover and regains health.
  2. Father – family planning lightens the burden and responsibility of the father in supporting family since there are only few to support.
  3. Children – they will get better time, opportunity, and security needs like food, clothing, good education, and others.
  4. Family – family members have more opportunities to enjoy each other’s company and enable them to save for the improvement of living standards and emergencies.
  5. Community – family planning improves the economic and social status of the community.
  6. Country and the World – with the positive results of family planning, resources like land, food, and fuel can be reduced in usage and sanitation control would be more effective.
What are the positive effects of family planning?

  •  Physical Less exhaustion due to burden of work load. Everyone in the family will have enough time for everything including rest.
  • Mental and Emotional Children gets more time from parents and also have better financial and security needs. This makes the family happy and contented.
  • Spiritual Parents having more time with the family will also have enough time to lead their children spiritually. A spiritual way of life results to stronger ties.
  • Social There will be enough time with the family and even the community. With an appeased mind and conditioned mental state, it is easier to associate with the family and community.
  • Moral With parents having more time with children, they will have more time teaching children values and responsibilities.
  • Parents can also provide education and good upbringings. Economic Lesser children results to lesser expenses. Parents will have less to support thus saving more. Economically, the family will have more savings to spend on other needs and will be more financially secured.

What is a Tsunami?
A tsunami is a series of sea waves commonly generated by under-the -sea earthquakes and whose heights could be greather than 5 meters. It is erroneously called tidal waves and sometimes mistakenly associated with storm ssurges. Tsunamis can occur when the earthquake is shallow-seated and strong enough to displace parts of the seabed disturb the mass of water over it.

Some natural signs of an approaching tsunami:

  1. A felt earthquake

Prayer for Threating Earthquake and Tsunami

Just this afternoon, a powerful earthquake triggered a tsunami up to 10m  or 30ft, with waves of 7m battering the Japanese coast. As what I have seen and heard in the news CNN, the earthquake measured 8.9 magnitudes. According to them, this was the largest earthquake in Japan’s history.

Here, the Philippine Institute of Volcano logy and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued a tsunami warning that could affect 19 coastal provinces in the Philippines. It seems alarming and frightening news.

For the devastation, and victims of Japan’s Tsunami let us all pray together:

Dear God,
We  fervently pray for your intercession so that our nation will be spared from a treating earthquake and tsunami. Save us from further calamities by embracing our country with your protective grace and merciful blessings. We ask this thru your son Jesus Christ and with the intercession of our Mother Mary. Amen.

Debt Aide

There are things complicate lives as completely as debt and the management thereof. So why not avoid credit card debt and make good Debt Management Plan altogether? Unfortunately, it is now impossible for us to shop, dine out, travel and vacation without having a large amount of cash. However, financial problem is the main concern. In fact, the easiest way is to charge directly to our credit card and make debt.

In my own experiences, I just take it for granted my charges and bills until the final bill statement arrived. I am really bothered and got sleepless nights thinking on how to settle my account or debt. I am seeking for any dept advices just to alleviate my burdens. Finally, co-workers referred me to Free Debt Advice. I am very thankful knowing this site and company.

You know what we do not need to worried about our debt as long as will seek information and advices like IVA information on how to handle this kind of situation. However, we will try to settle and must pay debt. Therefore, do not cut up all our credit cards-cut up all but one and use that one cautiously. Credit cards do not create debt, but they facilitate it. Debt complicates. However, wise spending simplifies.

On the Red Carpet

Last October, we had Mr. and Ms. UC High School (UCHS) pageant as one of the highlight in our high school day’s event. Indeed, it was fun filled and successful activity. I was amazed with their performance on stage in each contestants of every team for Mr. and Mrs. UC high School. It seems they are professional beauty titles as the way they carried and ramp on trade show flooring of the mall.

On the final walk wearing their attractive long gown they look gorgeous with their alluring and tantalizing smile as they saunter on the trade show carpet. The audience are very noisy and paranoid with the enticing beauty of their bet. As I have noticed, it is easy for them to walk back and forth and do ramp modelling. They walk smoothly and gracefully even with five inches heels. The show flooring and carpet of the venue helps them managed.

My attention was caught by with the logo mats and logo canopy. It was personalized and customized based on the event and sponsored team. As one of the team and event coach, I am grateful of the venue for its well-organized management.
