The grand staff is composed of two staves with the middle C between them. Each line and space has its own pitch name.
The sign on the left side of the upper staff is called a G clef or treble clef. The notes on this staff have middle to high tones. While the sign on lower staff is an F clef or bass clef. The notes on this staff have low to middle tones.
