Home Sick Depression

Life’s simple pleasures are often life’s greatest pleasures. It was a dream comes true when my father Antonio on his 80 has given a chance to visit my sister in the US. All expenses paid by my sister. It has been five years since my sister filed the appropriate actions, petitions and documentations for fast approval for my dad to travel abroad and only it was granted last 2008.

My father was full of happiness prior to his departure. Knowing and looking forward to see the famous state Las Vegas and meeting his grown up grandsons. For two months they go around, visit different tourist destinations and meeting new friends. However, his excitement was short-lived. One Saturday morning, as what my sister narrated to us, my father seemed so quiet. Earlier to that, he never failed to tell a story to talk about and never a dull moment with him. He used to watch television shows and always looking forward to his next trip.

Recently, my father decline all the invitations to go out, talk less and wanted to be left alone. As days passed, he ate less, losses his appetite, became frail and influenced with alcohol. My sister was alarmed and decided to have my father thorough checked by a doctor. We were all surprised to learn that my father was suffering from home sick depression and experiencing boredom drunkenness. Indeed the doctor, advices to have alcohol rehab for my father. He even undergoes alcohol treatment and drug treatment in California alcohol treatment center to monitor his developments. All his medication and treatments was fully followed even after he went back to his native homeland.
