Dancing is easy if you know the step pattern and the rhythmic pattern of each dance step in a given time signature.

Here are common dance steps in our folk dances:

  2. Touch Step
  3. Change Step
  4. Cross Change Step
  5. Close Step
  6. Heel and Toe Change Step
  7. Plain Polka
  8. Hop Step
  9. Swing Step
  10. Slide Step
  11. Mincing Step
  12. Shuffling Step
  13. Contraganza
  14. Waltz
  15. Waltz Balance
  16. MazurkaCross
  17. Waltz
  18. Redoba
  19. Sway Balance Series
  20. Engano Series

  • The sway balance steps are done diagonally forward and the third diagonally backward.
  • The engano steps are done sideways in all the series.

  1. today we practiced these dances and i really had a hard time coping with it.. i don't know why but i can't make my legs, my hands, and my body coordinate at the same time.. sometimes i get really jealous on my classmates because they could dance as long as they want to.. i think i should practice more on it..

  3. dancing is really tiring, but fun.

I and my friends cannot cope up with the steps cause we were obsessed with pop style but we will be trying so that we can get a high score.

but it is very fun because I get to learn more steps which is related to our culture and stuffs related to philippine folk dance.
